Here’s another Donnaleigh tarot music video discovery. The tarot reading starts just after 2:30. Can you ID the deck? Enjoy.

I don’t know the name of the deck, but here’s a link to a reader in Italy that has these cards on her website, if anybody wants to take a closer look.

If you click on the card names to the right you can see the others.

Chris –
Yes, that’s the deck. I won’t yet mention its name, but see if anyone else can identify it. Hint – it’s the U.S. Games version of a very influential French deck.

Looks like the Tarot of Marseille.

Joanna –
It’s based on the Tarot de Marseille but with significant differences.

What I want to know is … when did Jim Morrison rise from his French grave and start singing country? Does it have anything to do the with the cards being pulled in the reading?
Oh, yes…nice deck.

I believe it is the Oswald Wirth Tarot which was designed by
Stanislaus de Gaita.

Joe Nichols is definitely a cutie! But I’m not sure why they chose the tarot reading in this video… seems kind of random! 🙂

Ellen –
You are correct – it is the U.S. Games version of the Oswald Wirth Tarot. Good call. It is one of the first occultized Tarot de Marseille-style decks that didn’t follow Etteilla’s Egyptianized and radically modified deck.
Melissa –
I agree about how cute Joe Nichols is. I think the reading is about where do you go when you are hurting. It’s kinda nice that it’s also depicted as a turning point moment. It not only describes what’s happening, but suggests that when you “get it” a transformation takes place. The third card is the Sun.

Looking at the video again as I enjoy it so much. She only smokes when she drinks, and she only drinks when she’s tired of being let down by men, and then she only drinks alone. The first card is Death – the end of a relationship or of her trust in someone. The middle card is the Tower – perfect image of a burning cigarette. (Never saw that before!) It’s also her shattered emotions. And the third card (future) is the Sun – which I think is supposed to foreshadow his meeting her as she exits the reading establishment—the possible dawn of a new day and a new beginning? But she seems hesitant. Will she or won’t she?
