A tarot deck was created for the 1998 movie Practical Magic with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. You can get a reading with it here (warning: an old form of flash is used and may not work on many computers). See a selection of the cards in this fan video:

I love this deck. I remember being in middle school and printing screen shots of them out and laminating them so I could use them. I liked how simple they are. And this is my favorite movie!

I cannot believe I’ve never seen these cards! Like Shaheen, this is one of my very favorite movies and one of the reasons I call my site Practical Tarot.
Thanks for sharing. But now I want those cards. It is so interesting when such simple images evoke complex responses. At least they did for me.
Thank you, Mary, for finding and sharing this.

Barbara –
Someone was wondering if they were even used in the movie. I don’t remember tarot being in it. You could take screen shots of the cards from the reading site and try to enhance them.

No I don’t believe that they were ever used in the movie. They never used tarot. The only form of divination that they used that I can recall is palmistry in the movie.

Think that the Tarot has its origins in ancient Atlantis?

I don’t think that because I’ve never seen any evidence that points to it being so and personally the idea doesn’t seem very exciting. However, I understand that some people ascribe a lot of things to Atlantis. By the way, which Atlantis? – Santorini or the Atlantis that was supposedly out in the Atlantic ocean or a different one altogether?
