In this music video two children do a five card tarot reading predicting a series of future events—all happening at the same resort hotel. Meanwhile we see their future selves (at these five different times) interspersed with their child selves. The exquisite Olivia Wilde, who appears on the TV program “House,” is the final adult woman. The deck appears to have been created specifically for this video. It’s worth watching several times to piece together the whole story.
Can anyone pick out what cards they are supposed to be and describe each of the predicted events?
Here’s an unexpectedly decent report on tarot, especially for being on a TV talk show. It features Treadwell’s Bookstore in London.
Here’s an hd four minute extension of my original animoto video from The Cartomancer Series. Try it full screen. What do these images say about cartomancers and cartomancy?
You can see a large image of this painting in my earlier post, along with an in depth discussion in the comments section.
Here’s an alternate version of this video:

Jay Leno read the tarot on Thursday, April 29th’s Tonight Show (thanks to Paul Nagy for the heads-up) in which the literal level of the cards (no matter how absurd) come to life right before our eyes. Leno says he learned to read tarot from his two Italian grandmothers. He’s using the Morgan-Greer Tarot deck (the artist is Bill Greer – no relation to me).
The Jay Leno show for April 29th, 2010 is no longer available on-line—although the tarot scene was incredibly well-done and laughingly irreverent. If anyone finds it please let me know. A stuntman clip from the scene is available but doesn’t include any of the tarot material.
André Blas’ introduction to his documentary, Introspections and Reflections, explores the relationship between Niki de Saint Phalle’s work and her life. Here is the story of the origins of de Saint Phalle’s Giardino dei Tarocchi (Tarot Garden) in Tuscany:
This section gives us her early biography:
Get a blast from the past with this tarot scene from Dynasty, Season 2, Episode 10 (1982). While in Rome, Alexis (Joan Collins) gets a reading from the “prophetess,” Adriana. The Visconti-Sforza deck is featured and, of course, DEATH!
The original video has been removed but you can still see the tarot segment in two pieces at minute 8:30 here and at the beginning here.
But, it’s much sexier when dubbed in French.
Two upcoming films have Tarot in them:
Wolfman (a remake) directed by Joe Johnson with Hugo Weaving, Joe Johnston, Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, Geraldine Chaplin (as the gypsy tarot reader). England’s own Kim Arnold was the tarot consultant, tutoring Chaplin for the tarot scenes.
In The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus from Terry Gilliam with Heath Ledge, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law, the Hanged Man literally appears just as Dr. Parnassus pulls the card from his Tarot deck. For those who don’t mind spoilers here’s a hermeneutical review of the film. (Thanks to Bill Dalz.)
If anyone finds any clips of the tarot scenes please send them to me.
